Whether you own a restaurant or a retail store, one of the first things a customer is going to notice when they walk into your establishment is the atmosphere- the feel of it.  It may be subconscious, but they will perceive your business differently according to how it makes them feel.  Lighting and interior design may seem like small things that can be pushed to the the bottom of your budget, but they will create your customer’s first impression of your business, which should certainly not be at the bottom of your list.

Just think about it - when you walk into a five star restaurant, it is decorated and lit quite differently than a fast food restaurant.  Warm colors and soft lighting make patrons feel comfortable, whereas harsh and bright colors and lighting can make them feel uneasy.  What better way to bump up those first impressions by simply making the atmosphere more appealing.  So go ahead and hire that professional lighting and interior designer to bring your establishment up a few notches in class.
